Here is an excellent example of how the government people like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want will destroy this country by destroying small business. (Big business can always w.h.o.r.e. itself out to government to get what it wants.)
...more than the last. Just a little personal story will show you why.
We own a business in SoCal, but have a location Vegas. We run a big truck over there once a week.
NV is broke. However, Las Vegas pays their fire chief $900,000--captains around $500,000. All these public worker salaries are protected by unions.
They need $$, of course. The unions won't allow much of a salary cut.
Our truck was stopped this a.m. at the NV weigh station. New law: Every truck that runs into NV needs to have a special permit which costs $$. We had no idea. Nothing on their website. $500 fine this time; $1000 and then $1500. You have to go to their DMV to get the permit; wait in line. EACH week. Or register the truck in NV. A certain $$ amount according to weight.
Our driver was also slapped w/a $1000 fine for not having his log book up to date--even tho we nag him constantly. Also, another citation for not having a battery cover.
This crossing in NV this a.m. will cost us $2000 before we're done. The constant permit-getting will also cost an additional $2000. If you register the truck in NV, you have to send the same truck everytime.
Now, I suppose if you don't run a small business, you have NO clue. Not affected.
But sooner or later Tyranny by Bureaucracy will bring us all down. This crap is ultimately unsustainable. And it's everywhere. And unstoppable. No matter who you elect, government will pick your pocket clean.
Small businesses, who hire 75% of Americans HERE, have a target on their back. Someday soon it's all comin' down and it will be our own governments who do it through their corruption, greed and unholy alliance with unions.
There's no way this all works out.
